Like what sort of gift - or do you even take a gift?
I brought a blanket and a premie onsie to a friend...
I got an entire gift basket of soaps for baby and blankets, things like that....
I took Mom and Dad a greasy cheeseburger!!!! It was much appreciated.
take like a teddy bear and a card or a a nice suit.
Yes you take a gift. It doenst have to be a large item. maybe a nice picture frame. oh! and please don't forget Mom. A nice bottle of bubble bath or some good chocolate, some type of pampering gift.
Its hard for the mom to lug home a bunch of stuff, a little super soft stuffed animal would be nice...or even better is to wait till mommy and baby are home and bring something then. Some great gift ideas are boxes of diapers, onesies, baby wash clothes or towels, socks, sleepers and pacifiers...these are all the things I actually used when I had my son!
Disposable camera so parents can take pictures.
Some kind of special snack for the mom.
Maybe a baby hat or outfit.
If you already bought a gift for the baby at the baby shower etc., you might consider bringing something for the mom like lotions, balloons, or flowers. Anything baby related is also very nice.
Something nice for mum and dad like flowers or some they both like to eat.
For bub something small because mum and dad have to lug all this stuff to the car when it's time to go home.
Cameras, A gift for baby and maybe one for mom, and loose change for hospital vending machines.
A new baby blanket, a new outfit, how about something for mom. she needs things too, and it may make her happy and feel like she is important too. maybe some relaxing bath stuff, lavender lotion, relaxing music, etc. she needs gifts too.
flowers, balloons, a stuffed animal for the baby. I really appreciated these things when I was in the hospital.
I bought diapers any new mom needs diapers and wipes
Bring your camera, your health, (your absence is your gift if you're sick), and some favorite food for the new parents. (Fresh fruit for mom is always good - 'nuff said.) if you want to give the baby something, make it useful and/or small, or wait until they're home from the hospital. no sleep deprived new parent wants to drag a giant stuffed teddy bear home, and the baby will never appreciate it.
A thoughtful card, a bouquet of fresh flowers, a few "welcome Baby" balloons, or a gift card to Babies R' Us. that would allow Mom and Dad to choose something for baby that the baby will actually use and that they would appreciate. if you are feeling especially kind and thoughtful a "mommy gift" is always nice, a box of chocolates, a bottle of scented hand lotion, or a subscription to Parenting magazine would all be nice. above all, bring a smile and stay just a short while because a new Mom is likely sleep deprived, in pain and preoccupied with baby's many needs. you should comment on how the baby is cute, has Mom's eyes, Dad's hair, or just how adorable you think the baby is. new parents love that.
Maybe something for the mom like soap body wash somethings to make her feel good. Food was helpful for me!!
For the baby Id call the mom to see if she has a boppy, I loved getting mine then. Helped out a bunch. I know for me all the things the baby needed was givin and I had the take me home outfit. so maybe some flowers to make the room feel like home OR a picture frame to put the hospital picture in right away.
What do you take with you to see a newborn baby at the hospital?
