My boyfriend has a child with his ex... ?
Okay, so about a year and a half ago, I met this guy who was absolutely great. Great looking, great personality, and all that good stuff. He had a 3 year old boy, who is absolutely the cutest thing on this earth. His mother is a deadbeat and has nothing to do with the baby. I became close with the baby, buying him toys and always playing with him...and then me and his father stopped seeing eachother (not a bad breakup, we were both unsure of what we wanted. Its a year later now, and he has been contacting me saying that he misses me and that his son liked me so much and that I was so great with kids... This little boy is looking for a mother figure, hes almost 5 now so thats only natural. I'm not saying I would mind taking on the role (one day) but I am scared of getting too close to him and then what if things between me and his father dont work out? I am 22 years old, and certainly not ready to be a mom yet, but I don't know what to do. How should I handle this situation?
Perhaps the daddy thinks he made a mistake by letting you go? Maybe he is using hte child as an excuse to get back with you because he is too proud to admit he was wrong for letting you go. The boy who was three at the time probably doesn't remember you well enough to scheme up this plan. If you have feelings for the guy and he treated you well, give it another try. But do not do it just for the child. I warn you...being a step-parent is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but love is worth it.
